HELEN McKenna's first half strike helps Northern Ireland's Senior Ladies team pick up their first ever away point in the World Cup qualifiers. NORTHERN IRELAND'S Senior Women's team concluded their World Cup 2007 qualifying campaign this afternoon with a 1-1 draw in Kazakhstan.

Alfie Wylie's side took the lead against their hosts after 26 minutes through Helen McKenna only to succumb to a penalty six minutes after the hour.

The result means the girls secured third spot in Group Seven, a remarkable achievement given that this campaign marked their debut on the world stage.

Today's draw was also their first point away from home in the competition.

Earlier in the group they secured back-to-back home wins over section leaders Slovakia and Kazakhstan as well as losing narrowly in Romania.
