Liverpool Ladies are hoping to attract a record-breaking crowd when they take on Northern Ireland at Anfield this weekend for the Roy Castle Ladies Cup.

The Reds’ Ladies have teamed up with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in a bid to raise awareness of the killer disease and are appealing for as many supporters as possible to support the cause by watching the high-profile clash at Anfield on May 10.

Jane Campbell, secretary of the Liverpool Ladies is hoping for a bumper turn out from the Merseyside public.

“Roy Castle was well known as a presenter of ‘Record Breakers’ on the television and so we’re looking to set a record breaking crowd for this game,” she said. “We’re aiming for somewhere in the region of 10,000 which would be brilliant.

“The tickets will be just £2 each and so it’s going to be great value for money. If you come to watch the game then you’ll have a good standard of football to enjoy and you’ll also be supporting a great cause.

“It’s going to be a great occasion and I’d appeal for everyone reading this who can get to Anfield on the day to please do so.”

The game kicks off at 11am on Saturday May 10 and tickets will be available from the turnstiles on the day of the match
