Coleraine Ladies remain 4th in the Davison Frudles Championship with an away win at local rivals Limavady Ladies. The Bannside ladies were 3-1 winners in this game with Lauren Wade continuing her goal fest with another 2 goals in the fixture. Coleraine captain Shairee Nicholl was also on target for Coleraine. Leading by example the skipper opened the scoring midway through the second half with which could only be describes as a David Beckham style free kick from the edge of the area, bending the ball around the defensive wall and in past the Limavady keeper who could only watch as the ball flew in past her. Lauren Wade then got in on the act with her 13th goal in 3 games, outpacing the Limavady defence before firing into the net. Limavady pulled a goal back in controversial circumstances. Limavady forward Becky McMullan fired a shot at goal, Coleraine keeper Karrie Nicholl parried the ball onto the cross bar and it bounced down onto the line and was then gathered by the keeper. Much to the surprise of both teams the referee awarded Limavady the goal, this incensed the Coleraine coaching staff who’s protests fell on deaf ears as the referee was adamant that he had seen the ball cross the line. The goal gave Limavady a life line and a foothold in a game where they had been second best with only the odd break from Becky McMullan causing any sort of trouble for the Coleraine defence. These were easily repelled by Coleraine defence which was well marshalled as usual by skipper Shairee Nicholl. The award of this goal galvanised the Coleraine ladies and they maintained the upper hand in the game and another goal by Lauren Wade put the game out of reach of the Limavady ladies.
