The teams played each other at the Reebok Stadium at U14 level in the semi-final of the Tesco Cup back in 2009 when the sky blues won by 2-0.
The winners of this enticing encounter will then play against either Scottish Champions, Celtic Girls or Welsh Champions, Mardy Tigers in the Final.
The squad and management team will fly into Birmingham on Saturday where they will stay overnight in anticipation of their game at St. Andrews on Sunday morning.
The Tesco Cup is a home nations grassroots football competition across three age groups, U13 boys, U14 girls and U16 girls. Over 3,600 teams from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales entered the initial stages of the 2011 Tesco Cup.
The Tesco Cup is part of a wider commitment from Tesco to encourage children to get involved in sport. Now in its fifth year, Tesco works in conjunction with the FA and local communities to provide young footballers with the opportunity to play in a structured competition, on a national and international stage.
The Swifts Girls will briefly live the life of a professional footballer over the weekend in their bid to be crowned the UK Tesco Cup Champions.
Everyone at Sion Swifts wishes the very best of luck to the players and their coaches. Good luck also to Cappagh Spurs who are representing N Ireland at U14 Girls level in the competition. A special thanks to Vincent Quinn of “V. Q. Planthire and Civil Engineering” for sponsoring Club jackets to each of the girls and coaching staff.
