The NI U15 squad faced the impressive Scottish team today in their opening game of this years Bob Doherty competition.
An unstoppable direct free kick from Captain Aoife Curran gave our girls a slender 1-0 lead at half time.
At the start of the second half the NI squad were tested to the limit with Scotland bearing down on the NI goals on several occasions but good goal-keeping by Jacqueline Burns kept them out.
NI counter attacked resulting in Katelyn McKane beating a couple of defenders and sliding the ball into the net to give NI the cushion they were looking for making the result 2-0.
NI also hit the crossbar and it is safe to say that the players and management team were pleased to hear the final whistle!!
In the other game today Republic Irelad beat Wales 4-1.
Let’s hope the NI girls can turn in another great performace tomorrow against Wales.
