‘Stars’ and Stripes!

TWO top teenage soccer players from America have joined Ballymena United Allstars ladies for a month.

United Allstars new signings Katie Condon and Miranda Graham with Ali Smyth (centre).

Katie Condon and Miranda Graham, both 19, came to the Province last week – and made their debuts in Allstars’ impressive 6-2 home win over Linfield Ladies at the Showgrounds last Wednesday night.
Midfielder Katie was an instant hit, netting twice in the victory over the Blues.
And on top of the double signing from the USA is the return to Allstars of Ladies Premier League top scorer last season, Ali Smyth.
Ballymena United Allstars boss Chris Mark must be thinking Christmas has come early!
“I am delighted to have acquired Katie and Miranda, and of course the return of Ali is a major plus for our side,” Mark told Guardian Sport.
USA duo Katie and Miranda attend Western Illinois University.
Sharp shooter Ali, who was seen by Western coach, Tony Guinn, playing in the N.I. League, was invited to the States, and has just completed her first year at Western.
Delight
With term over Ali brought Katie and Miranda back with her – much to the delight of Allstars manager Mark.
Last Tuesday Guardian Sport met up with the players and manager for coffee in the Tower Centre.
Joining the trio back from the States was Allstars player Nicky Stevenson.
Back in America Western Illinois finished fourth in the Division 1 Sumit League – which qualified them for the Conference tournament.
They were unbeaten in the Spring series.
The trio aim to play their part in helping Allstars, who currently occupy third place in the table, get as many points as possible over the next few weeks.
And there is more good news for manager Mark and Co!
Midfielder Teri Magee is on her way back from Wingate University in North Carolina to further strengthen the Allstars squad.
On Wednesday night United Allstars are away to Newbridge Predators.
