Linfield Ladies - new manager announced

Congratulations to Neil Morrow on his appointment as the new manager of Linfield Ladies

Linfield FC is pleased to announce that the new manager of the Linfield Ladies team will be Neil Morrow. Neil was introduced to the girls at Windsor Park this evening prior to the CIS Cup game against Newry City.

Neil Morrow is 42 yrs old and the holder of the UEFA ‘A’ License. He comes to the club having been First Team coach at Northland Raiders LFC for the past four years. Prior to that position he was Youth and Reserve team coach at Ards FC.

Neil is a former IFA County Coach and was the Head Coach of the first Northern Ireland U17 Ladies squad to compete in the European Championships in 2007. Six of that squad have since made their Senior International debuts.

Neil is a lifelong Linfield supporter whose family were born and bred on the Donegal Road. They moved to the Castlereagh area of Belfast and he and his grandfather were members of the East End LSC. He played youth team football at the club in the early 80s when the Colts played in the Amateur League in a yellow Watford kit. The manager was George Matchett of whom he says “ he was a character and respected manager but he was part of THAT !! Carrick team”

Speaking exclusively to LinfieldFC.com, Neil Morrow expressed his “delight at the opportunity that my appointment presents at an exciting time for Linfield Ladies. The full integration of the Ladies within the club is a testimony to the commitment of Linfield FC developing all players and staff. There is a tremendous foundation at Linfield and I am very fortunate. The club has developed very quickly and tribute must be paid to those who put so much effort into establishing it. That said, it is time to look forward with fresh ideas and enthusiasm and implement the five year plan to put Linfield Ladies at the forefront of Ladies football.

I can’t wait to get started with what is a very talented bunch of players and to working with everyone at Linfield FC to progress with Ladies section of the club”

Management Committee member and Linfield representative to the NIWFA, Andy Conn welcomed Neil to the club and added “I am delighted that Neil has accepted our offer to become manager of Linfield Ladies. He has outstanding credentials and will bring a wealth of experience to the role. I look forward to working closely with Neil in the months ahead as he strives to build on the fine work of his predecessor. I am sure the Ladies players will give Neil their full support and I have no doubt that Neil will give his full commitment to the task ahead.”
