Julie set for Game On!

Northern Ireland international Julie Nelson will be lending her support to Game On! next Saturday at the Queen’s Film Theatre.

QFT and Jameson Belfast Film Festival are proud to present Game On! a special season of sports-themed films and events celebrating the spirit of the Olympic Games. With its unique combination of hopes and dreams, winning and losing, sport has always provided a rich seam of inspiration for film-makers. Game On! will showcase some fantastic sports films and give you a taste of sporting activities, both on and off-screen! Game On! is part of a series of initiatives led by Northern Ireland Screen for the Legacy Trust UK “Connections” programme, funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and managed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

On Saturday 26th September Julie will introduce the widely acclaimed movie Bend it Like Beckham. In the movie, Jess (Parminder Nagra) must make a choice between following the traditions of her Indian family or pursuing her dream of becoming a soccer sensation. This screening will be followed by a tour of Queen’s PEC.

Other movies being screened during the festival include:
24 September, BMX Bandits, 11am at QFT
25 September, Hoop Dreams, 10am at QFT
27 September, Chariots of Fire, 1pm at QFT
