Match Report
Sion Swifts (2) v (1) Lisburn
Sion’s scorers were: Lauren Brennan – 1 Claragh Connor – 1
This was Sion’s third game in six days with most of the players having played in the Tesco Cup Final on Saturday followed by a long trip in the Women’s League to Dromara Village on Monday and then to-nights game where tired legs showed.
Lisburn proved to be a much more physical team than the Co Tyrone side and this was a good introduction (as most of the Sion team are aged 15) to the women’s game.
Sion took the lead through Lauren Brennan early in the first half but Lisburn perserved and scored a deserved equaliser. Swifts Claragh Connor scored what proved to be the winner before the interval.
The second half was evenly contested but in the latter stages Lisburn went all out to gain an equaliser.
It was a case of batten down the hatches for Sion in the last 10 minutes but to their credit they stuck admirabely to their defensive duties and gained a valuable victory.
