Match Report

Larne Ladies 0 v 5 Fermanagh Mallards

Two goals each from Felicity Long, Louise McFrederick and a long
range
seventh minute strike from Rhonda McIlwaine keep Fermanagh top of
the
Davisons Frudles Championship.

A confident start saw Fermanagh take an early lead, Mcilwaine’s right
wing effort from distance evading the Larne keepers fingertips. The
eighteenth minute saw Larne’s first attempt on goal, a left sided
cross
which the away side’s keeper gathered easily, the Mallards moved
swiftly from defence to attack winning a penalty which Felicity Long
despatched coolly low and into the middle of the net. Larne’s best
chance of the game was cleared from the goalline and Fermanagh’s
defence held firm to secure a 2-0 first half lead.

The second half saw a fitter and physically stronger Fermanagh
continue to play their play their passing game and with their
midfield
unchallenged further goals were inevitable, the league leaders
scoring
three more times in the last ten minutes as Larne tired, the third
and
fifth goals coming from Louise McFrederick and Felicity Long scoring
the fourth and her second to give Fermanagh a very comfortable five
goal victory.
