YMCA travelled to Billy Neil to face Glentoran BU. In the opening moments of the game BU applied pressure settled into the game early, with good play from Macklin, Stephens and Hislop. An early break through was to come around the 7th minute when Corry’s long range shot was saved and Stephens scored the rebound to make it 1-0 BU. Throughout the first half BU created a lot of chances, with good shots from Caldwell and Stephens but just couldn’t find the back of the net. YMCA responded with a brief spell of attacking play but it didn’t trouble the BU defence. In the closing moments of the first half it was all BU with Hislop putting some brilliant crosses in. The first half ended with BU playing well and full of confidence.
Throughout the 2nd half BU made a series of subs, Richardson off for Bailie and Lowry off for O’Hagan. BU started the second half like they finished the first with good shots from Downey and Macklin. Another goal for BU was to come when Hislop lobbed the keeper from outside the box, 2-0 BU. There was good play from BU with Bailie and O’Hagan making an impact straight away. A third goal was to come when Vance crossed a superbly weighted cross in for Stephens to make it 3-0 BU. Hislop found the back of the net within minutes of the restart to make it 4-0 BU. BU were in their stride and were rewarded again for their hard work, winning a free kick outside the box. Bailie stepped up to score a brilliant goal, 5-0 BU. Moments later Hislop hit a magnificent cross in for O’Hagan to make it 6-0 BU. It was all BU in the second half and they added another to their tally when Stephens got through again to make it 7-0 and score her hat-trick. This rounded off a brilliant performance for BU.
